As the new LGM on the block I was accumulating a good number of new club leads but had nothing definite until I received the following e-mail at 12:59 PM on September 1, 2012: I work in the Business Development Center at Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center (EOC Tech) in Choctaw. We are interested in starting a group at our Technology Center for the businesses in our area. Please call me at the number listed below at your earliest convenience. Signed, Julie Farmer. The EOC Toastmasters Club chartered on January 1, 2012. I licked my index finger and drew an imaginary line on my imaginary blackboard. Julie Farmer helped me start my first Toastmasters Club. Without her, it could not have happened. I was proud, and I was proud of her. Here it is two years later and she is CVPE. They have all the DCP points that some clubs miss: Officers list and renewal on time, at least 4 officers trained twice, and 4 new members. They have 3 points. Recently I attended a meeting where the other DCP points were discussed. Many of them are complete. They are just not turned in. I am confident Julie Farmer will see that its done before June 30. They had 12 members when the year began. They now have 15. I give Julie Farmer and the members of EOC a better than average chance of being a distinguished club this year. News Flash! I just saw a link on her Facebook page advertising Texas Holdem. Does she play Poker? Julie Farmer is my March 12, 2014 Toastmaster of the Day.
