As the streets of Cairo erupted in applause Wednesday night, moments after President Mohammed Morsi was removed from power, a Halifax man joined his fellow Egyptians in the celebrations. “Yesterday was a new day in our history and personally I will call it Egypt Day, like Canada Day” said Ahmad Assal, a former member of the Egyptian military and director of the Egyptian Society of Nova Scotia.
