As the weekend comes to a close the teams of BCCK are in bout week - TopicsExpress

As the weekend comes to a close the teams of BCCK are in bout week Killer fans! And as the Cereal Killers head into their first bout ever against a full member league of the Womens Flat Track Derby Association, it is common in WFTDA play for the B teams of each organization to play each other too. And that of course means a big opportunity for the Repeat Offenders also. But this is no small task at hand next weekend for the BCCK teams and Coach Mr. Nauty, Head Coach of the Killers, explains a little more about this: This next weekends bouts are big for BCCK as we head into our debut bout in the WFTDA. Although we are still an Apprentice League, if you want to become a WFTDA full member league, you have to play a current member league as an Apprentice League. So as you would expect, the top teams in the world play in the WFTDA, and the Killers and Repeat Offenders both are headed into the bouts next weekend (at the Derby City Rollergirls of Louisville, KY) against the highest ranked teams theyve ever played. In fact, here are the current flat track derby rankings and how they show what it is predicted as an outcome: *The Killers are given a 7% chance of actually winning the bout. Click here---> flattrackstats/bouts/41543/rankings The important thing that we look at as coaches are the projected points scored on these rankings though. The rankings predict that for ever 61 points Derby Citys A Team scores, the Killers will score 30. So lets say we multiply both numbers by 5 for fun and say that Derby City scores 5 x 61 points to equal 305 points in the game. For the Killers to stay ranked right where they are today after this bout, then we need to score 5 x 30, or 150 points in the bout. So a score of 305 to 150 may not seem like a great thing to some, but we should not lose points in the rankings if we do this. If we were to score less than the predicted ratio, then our ranking goes down as a general rule. If we score better than the ratio, our ranking should go up, even though what other teams around us do can change the rankings for us slightly too. Thats the quick version of how we figure out where we want to end up, and sometimes in todays extremely competitive sport of flat track roller derby you will play teams that are much farther along and ranked much higher...teams that are predicted to hand you a blow out loss. But these types of bouts are a huge learning experience for young teams like ours, and this happens in every sport there is. Sometimes you know one team has a huge advantage over the other, but you still book the bout, and love to play the game. As far as next weekend for us goes, our coaches and players are very excited to knock out this first WFTDA bout, as it takes us one step closer to a huge goal of ours, and that is to graduate from the WFTDA Apprentice Program and become part of the Womens Flat Track Derby Association as a full member league. Our opponent next weekend, Derby City, is a very tough team, and we have a lot of respect for them, but you can count on the fact that we are going to play them as hard as we can. Our teams do not quit on any opponent and we will bring the best of what we have to both bouts next weekend. Where we stack up at the end on the scoreboard is what it is. So heres what I have to say as final comment today on this... Lets do this, GO BCCK!! :)
