As the world cup tournament is set to kick off, I would call upon our young fans to keep vigil and take necessary precautions as they congregate to watch these games in groups. With all the cold blood and cowardly killings, it’s no longer hazy in my mind that the Kenyan security and intelligence are not only performing at subpar levels, unable and unwilling to zero-in on those responsible for these atrocities, but rather escalated their abuse on the Somali community. Albert Einstein once observed, If I were given an hour to save the planet, I would spend fifty-nine minutes defining the problem and one minute resolving it. As a politician, I believe there is a political dimension to this perennial issue, and would advise the government to put in effort to understand and enumerate the intricate potential causes of the insecurity in our region before playing blame game against a law abiding community that has so much at stake. In addition, the holy month of Ramadhan is fast approaching and as we seek the abundant bounties of the Almighty, let’s prays that this security menace gets a supernatural remedy. May your team win in the World cup tournament, but more importantly, may we have a blessed month of Ramadhan.
