As this is GOJIRA 54 week I thought Id suggest these scenes and others are really what make GOJIRA the heartfelt masterpiece that it is. I choke up every time I see these parts of the film no matter how many times Ive watched it. I used to think Godzilla was just a metaphor for the Atomic bomb, but I believe thats really too obvious and simple.Its more than that, I think its represents the spectre and the horror of war itself. At least in this film anyhow. Some laugh when I insist its one of greatest films Japan ever produced and also one of the greatest films ever made but I firmly believe that all bias aside. While I love all the other Kaiju films as well as their American counterparts (not counting GINO of course) none comes anywhere close to being as powerful and moving as the original GOJIRA. I would like to hear others opinions on this.
