As we are editing the photos from our Santa Paws photo booth, we came across a picture of a special little guy we wanted to introduce you to. Meet Jefferson, our blind 7-year old poodle mix. Jefferson came to the Valley Animal Center earlier this year when he was pulled from a local SPCA. We noticed that one of his eyes was getting cloudy and engorged so we had our vet take a look at it. Jefferson was then put on special medication to reduce the pressure in his eye, which unfortunately did not help. The eye specialist that we took him to recommended that he have his eye surgically removed to rectify the problem and help alleviate his pain. After the initial surgery, our dog adoption staff observed his other eye following suit and sadly, we had to have that eye removed as well. Jefferson is now recovering steadily from his latest surgery and should be available for adoption soon. We just want to make sure that he is fully recovered and that there were no complications. Despite losing his eye sight completely, Jefferson remains one of the happiest and sweetest dogs our staff has had the pleasure of encountering. As a non-profit no-kill animal shelter, we receive no public funding so we were able to perform these surgeries and provide the best care for Jefferson, thanks to generous support and donations from the community. THANK YOU from all the shelter animals, the staff and of course the ever happy-go-lucky Jefferson, who shows us that no matter what hardships life hands you, its always important to keep a positive outlook on things! Please SHARE & LIKE to spread Jeffersons story and find him a fur-ever home!
