As we began our journey today, Father Paul left us pondering - TopicsExpress

As we began our journey today, Father Paul left us pondering several questions after morning mass. His homily revolved around a common theme: How much faith do you have in Jesus? How much do you actually trust him? I think those are questions we can all ask ourselves especially when we are faced with a crisis or witness things that we find hard to comprehend. Our mission team has spent many hours working with those less fortunate and going through things that we could not even imagine in our daily lives. Today we spent the day atSt. Vincent’sCatholicHigh School. We faced many challenges when we arrived there. They gave us a tour of the school and pointed out many ways that we could help their school and many projects that needed to get done. However, they didn’t have the money to purchase enough supplies and were faced with many limitations in getting the things that they need. So, first we accomplished the task of getting the necessary supplies and then quickly got to work fixing the bathroom plumbing and painting numerous rooms and walkways. Pictures Day 4 003 Pictures Day 4 002 Pictures Day 4 001 After leaving the school, we all asked ourselves what we could take from our efforts today because we felt like all our services had not been utilized at certain times during the day. We all wished we could have done more, but due to lack of some organization and limitations in supplies, we couldn’t accomplish all that we wanted. This morning Father Paul made a comment during breakfast that helped us with this task. He spoke about how many people ask for things and want things that they don’t have, but unless they have the means to maintain them and care for them, they are worthless. Therefore, when we go to places to help and when future teams come toJamaica, we need to not only build and fix things, but also teach and continue to give so that the needy can actually benefit from our efforts. Today we all also shared with each other the realization that from helping those in need on our mission trip, we have also deepened our own faith & will bring our mission of helping those in need back home to our parish and our community.
