Last year my son Oliver was taken to hospital with bronchiolitis - TopicsExpress

Last year my son Oliver was taken to hospital with bronchiolitis (about the 6th bout of it!). He was diagnosed with a serious case of it that can kill babies and old people. He was treated for this in Gloucester for a week. Whilst he was in there despite me staying in with Oliver I was offered a Ronald McDonald room for me to have a shower in peace and do my hair which after nights on a camp bed it was very appreciated. They discovered after a week that he had an enlarged heart. He was promptly rushed to Bristol Childrens Hospital. My husband was straight away offered a Ronald McDonald room fro him and my other son (now 6) to use. It was a complete lifesaver for us all. Samuel was able to stay in the hospital room l late then sleep in the room with daddy and then he took him to school. He missed no time off in 3 weeks! They also gave then Easter eggs as he was in over Easter time. I am eternally grateful for all that they do. Nobody ever knows if they will ever need this charity but thank goodness its there. Last year I organised a pamper night for the hospital, Ronald McDonald House and Air Ambulance (my friends husband (30), who sadly died, was taken from Gloucester to Bristol by Air Ambulance). We raised £960! Since then I organised another pamper night held at my house where I raised over £300. This time I want to involve parents at my sons school so am splitting the money between funds for books etc for the shell they already have for their new library and Ronald McDonaldHouse. My aim is to make it bigger and better than last year! Each guest will get a goody bag (like last year) full of bits and pieces. Last year included book marks, candles, Forerro Rocher, a raffle ticket and free tea and coffee all night. This year i am giving a glass of wine in the ticket price of £5. Many donated money and included business cards in the bag. Also there will be a chocolates and bottles tombola and a raffle. There will be all sorts of stalls from crafts to beauty to cakes and cooking. The fundraiser is on Friday 26th September 2014. At The British Legion, Brockworth from 7.30 pm How an you help? Im looking for wine, raffle and tombola prizes, things to go in the goodie bags, places to put posters up/or sell tickets and raffle tickets....and anything else you may think you can do to help! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I will be (and the many others who will benefit from the night) very grateful for any way that you are able to help. Kind regards Marianne x p.s Oliver has made a remarkable recovery and though not 100% sorted, he has done better than we ever imagined...so much so that at 21 months he climbs on tables and work surface! Not bad for a 4 month old who was admitted with only 1/3 of his heart functioning!
