As we continue in this season of Christmas, and as we start to put away the decorations and clean up the pine needles from our carpets, I wonder if we would do well to focus some attention on how Jesus is not normal. And I wonder, too, if we would do well to contemplate how we are called to follow this abnormal Lord. I wonder if we would do well to put ourselves in the place of those holy parents, maybe trying to get back to a normal life, but discovering that our lives will never be the same as they were, and are never supposed to be the same as everyone else’s life, because Jesus has been born...
