As we engage in our prayer for the Elections in Zimbabwe tonight. "Zimbabwe needs God-fearing and peace-loving leaders: not corrupt and evil rulers." We have been following the news, tensions are running high. As we pray let us look forward to a free, fair and credible election. I believe that as a church family we should play a positive role in maintaining sanity in all political processes in Zimbabwe. We must avoid bloodshed, abductions and other forms of violence that characterized the June 2008 elections". "This week the nation of Zimbabwe is at [a] cross-roads; a decisive moment, commonly called Kairos in Biblical terms, when God’s people are faced with making life changing choices as they seek God’s guidance. "Our prayer tonight is that even those who suffered trauma in the past will still see the value of voting. Our prayer tonight must instill confidence to people who are living in fear because of memories of the last elections." So let us stand in solidarity with the people of Zimbabwe and remember them in our prayers. “I call on our church family to pray for peace, to be prophetic and exercise our responsibility and mandate as a church of making a major spiritual impact on communities, cities and nations, and in that to stand in solidarity with the people and the nation of Zimbabwe." Pray for Zimbabwe’s leaders – especially Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai –that God would be at work in them, bringing greater wisdom and humility, and healing their rifts, so that they would work together for the long term good of the nation and all its citizens.
