As we have seen this week from the Ray Rice video and the resulting uproar, no man or woman should have to tolerate abuse of any kind. So what is the reason those of us who work in pharmacy have to tolerate verbal and sometimes physical abuse? Ive done some independent work in the last few weeks and in low income area selling lots of hydrocodone Ive zero problems. Everyday working for a big corporate BULLY, someone either verbally abused me or one of our techs, in person or on the phone. Ive had ink pens, Rx vials and wadded paper thrown at me. One of the techs had a bag ripped from her hand and the staple opened a 2 inch gash on her hand which required stitches. In most stores the customer is either smooth talked by the manager or leaves in a huff making threats. All of this is another reason we need a central voice speaking for all of us.
