As we read through the Haggadah last night at the Passover - TopicsExpress

As we read through the Haggadah last night at the Passover service, I was overcome by the grief I feel that the world again is once again becoming an increasingly hostile and menacing place, not just for Jews, but for all potential victims of the increasing levels of ideological hate, historical revisionism and desensitization to violence in our society. At our end of the 20-person table gathering, I was sitting with Esther, one retired military guy, a veteran and a student studing to become a video game developer. We were discussing the seeming increasing levels of hate crimes and I was concerned that the student had a higher threshold for the violence than did the veteran and the retired military guy. With 24 hour news coverage and video games and increasing ideological divisions, we are returning to a time where we are continually at the edge of violence with more and more leaping into succumbing to the temptations whether through bullying, flipping out or being vulnerable because of mental health issues. We all need to be doing a better job.
