As we whittle away the sorting and have less to look through, I am hanging on to more...found stacks of letters from my grandma to my mom, mostly written in the 1970s. Will keep them all even though they are in Romanian and average 14 pages long! They are written on that very thin onion skin paper in very neat handwriting and dont take up a lot of room. I will find someone to help me translate one of these days. I also found a stack of letters from my dad to my mom written in 1983 when he was in Papua, New Guinea for work. He was so sweet and loving to her. One letter included a detailed description of the three delicious meals he received on the flights from Tucson to Papua, New Guinea. Later I found the menu, all typed up in fancy script on nice card stock, as if he was going to a banquet, not getting on an airplane. Things have changed! Then I found letters I wrote home from my time spent at UCLA. And I also found holiday cards from the mid-70s. I just had to keep some of those, loved the artwork. I think Dan would have liked looking at those with me. When I get back to Overland Park I will share some of my favorite finds here on Facebook. Not too many boxes left. Maybe we will get through them all before I leave on Monday...
