As with almost everything, the dose makes the poison. From a longevity standpoint, more is not always better. You dont want to run too little or too much. You dont want to run too fast or too slow. Are we born to run? Intermittently perhaps, but not for 20+ miles per week. Were born to walk. Our body functions best within certain ranges. Damage is accelerated outside of these ranges.
