As you can see by the posters starting to flood Facebook...the Gladstone & District 4wd Club Inc. is holding their Family Fun Day Charity Comp again this year...Saturday 19th July at Clarkys Petrolhead Paradise at Lowmead...the home of the clubs Lowmead 3 Car Challenge!! Last year was a great success from the feedback we have received, so we are looking forward to it becoming a regular yearly event!! Originally organised last year to raise money to help out Clarky and the surrounding district after the big floods which destroyed a lot of farming infrastructure and stock in the area. This year we are moving our sights closer to home and with a cold winter well and truly upon us, we will be raising money for the Gladstone Homeless. We are currently investigating the best means of delivering our donation to them (cash or product), either way, it will be greatly received!! As a local Not-for-profit organisation, it is important for us to support our local community so that those in need will directly receive the benefits from our donations. So if you havent already thought about it, I would like to encourage you and your family and friends to get behind this great charity comp and come along and have a great day...or make a weekend out of it...camping is available and you may use our Clubs facilities on the property, which include flushing toilets and beautiful hot showers!! Entry is $10 per person (Children under 16 are free) Family Fun Day Stages - will consist of 10 stages throughout the day ranging from novelty stages through to beginner 4wding stages...which will cost $5 for each stage. You can enter as many or as few stages as you wish...however...the more stages you finish, the more points you will receive...making a better chance of winning the event. As it is a charity comp...our Officials are very open to BRIBES...so if you dont know the answer to a question on your task sheet (yes, there could be questions about the property) then you could seek out an official (they will be wearing fluro green vests) and proceed to try and bribe them for a clue...it will cost you more if you want the actual answer. Later in the day you will have the opportunity to enter our GPS stage - 2pm (approx time), which will cost $50 per car...so having a GPS would be considered an advantage...most phones also have this capability...however, reception is a little hit and miss in the gullys and creeks on this property...once again...not a problem...seek out an official and BRIBE them for directions to your next reference point!! Something a little different this year...a wave of Lawn Mower Racing has hit our region!! We would like to invite ALL enthusiastic Lawn Mower Racers to come along and show off your skills on our 4wd Man Made Stage - 4-5pm (approx time). Saturday night is the Mini Comp - 6pm (approx time) - $50 Nomination Fee. This is what everyone waits for...Comp Trucks versing your Daily Drivers!!! You will need to nominate for this event. You will need to fill out paperwork and pay prior to being allowed to race. This will be held on our Man-made Stage!!!
