As you have probably seen from all the posters in the Law School, this week is Holdsworth elections!!Im Claire Critchlow and I would like to be your new Careers Officer of the Holdsworth Club! The Careers services provided by Holdsworth this year have been amazing, and I hope to continue the role just as well this year. I think Careers within Holdsworth is a vital part as thinking about life after our degree affects us all, and Holdsworth can prepare you for the tough decisions ahead. I think I would be a great Careers Officer because I am approachable, hard-working and organised. I am determined to be the best Careers Officer I can be, and to provide you with as many career opportunities as possible, geared to all different types of preferences. I want you to provide feedback on the events we provide, in order for us to use our time wisely and to ensure that every career event we put on is relevant, ensuring our time isn’t wasted with events that are unhelpful. I want to give you the opportunity to become more employable, and gain keys skills that ensure we are the ideal employees for big businesses and law firms etc. We are lucky that our University is placed next to the city with the second largest legal market, and I hope to focus more on the non-commercial law firms that are on our doorstep here in Birmingham. From the many careers events provided by Holdsworth that I have attended, such as the Baker & McKenzie London trip at Christmas, I feel it is vital to get a taste of what law firms are like, what you want from a law firm and whether they are right for you. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to stand out as an individual to law firms, and I hope the Careers events we can provide will add experience to your CV, and will allow law firms to recognise you, and allow you to build successful network relationships with lawyers and trainees currently at the firms you are interested in. Please Vote Claire 4 Careers! If you have any questions please feel free to email me :) [email protected] Thanks for reading, Claire Critchlow :)
