As you know I am a Father of 4 boys, the 5year old being very special. He has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. This is just an open letter to people that i have recently seen as we drive around or walk by handicap parking spots. To the lady I saw parked in the front handicap spot shoving a big mac and fries down her throat (I am sure that was a diet drink huh???) while I parked 5 spots down... wrestling my sons wheelchair out the back of the truck. I am sure you would never park there unless you needed it or the person you were waiting on needed it. It is not the easiest to get my young son out of our vehicle and into his chair while we are squeezed in between 2 people who like to park on the lines. I am sure that young man WALKING towards your car is not.... Yep perfectly fine.... what a great example. To the man that waited and blocked traffic until the handicap space opened up... I am sure you of all people after waiting must really need it.... Well I was pretty sure until I saw you unfold yourself out of the car. No chair, no cane, no walker... Sir being fat and out of shape is not a handicap... it is a life choice. To the lady in the full minivan... Yes I am sure those rugrats are driving you crazy... but you are the one that kept pooping them out, not me. Yes you were there only for 3 minutes... but it was long enough for me to park, get my sons chair out, get him settled, under the umbrella and to the front of the store before we got to wet.... and then you were gone. My 13 year old is a scout and for one of his merit badges he needed to ask me a few questions. One of them was what makes a good father? One of my answers was patience....But to the 3 people above... my patience is thin. So when I come knock on your window I hope you will understand. Tucker Jones... Telling it like it is!
