As you know the opening meet of the draghounds is fast approaching. The landowners have been visited, the lines are planned, the hounds are prepped and the port has been purchased. Now its your turn. Come and support the first ever opening meet of the Trillium Draghounds at the Windmill Side Road next to Burns Road on Concession 5, Caister Centre. Hounds meet at 1pm and move off at 1:30pm. The day has been planned so foot followers/car followers can follow the action with great viewing spots. Directions to the meet will be emailed later in the week. Please remember there is a potluck tailgate after the hunt. Trillium Drag Hunt Opening Meet Launch Party The Master of the Trillium Draghounds cordially invites you to help celebrate the starting of our new pack at the Hamilton Hunt Club on Saturday April 5th from 7:30 - supper is kindly provided by Mrs. Henry Martin, MH. All welcome. Handy Hints For New Comers Please arrive early. Remember that when parking on the road everyone must park on the same side, so as not to cause obstructions for our landowners and their neighbors. If you arrive first, try to pick the side most clear for all that come after you. Find the Field Secretary who will be wearing a white arm band with cap written on their arm. Have the correct amount of cap: $20 for guests 19 & under, Trillium & HH members; $40 for guests. Have your horse and yourself turned out clean, smart and wearing the correct attire. You are not just representing yourself-you are representing the hunt and hunting as a whole. It is a privilege to use other peoples property and the effort it takes to turn out the horses and hounds should be respected and reflected in your effort. Anyone unsure of attire please, dont hesitate to contact me on the number provided below; Seek out the Master and say good morning, also find your Field Master for the day and say good morning (the Field Secretary will provide this information) and introduce yourself and your horse to them. If your horse is green/young please wear a green ribbon in your horse’s tail; if your horse has been known to kick please place a red ribbon in your horses tail. Speak to the Field Masters to determine which field would suit you best. You may change fields throughout the day after speaking to your Field Master. There will be ‘first’ & ‘second’ fields. Always keep your horses head towards the hounds and yield to the huntsman and staff. Always stay with your Field Master and headland as much as possible. If you wish to retire early, please speak to your Field Master, then leave by the shortest route to a road (not across crops), so as not to interfere with the ongoing hunt. At the end of the day, take time to thank your Field Master, the Master, and the Huntsman. Most importantly come and enjoy yourself! Thank you for your ongoing support of the Hamilton Hunt and the Trillium Draghounds, Andrew Marren MH 905.765.9480
