Butterflies or Moths The Lord showed me moths at night banging against a porch light and then butterflies floating between beautiful wild flowers on a sunny clear day. Moths are creatures of darkness and are attracted to the man made lights that are visible in darkness. These moths invariably beat themselves up trying to get close to the light from man. Butterflies on the other hand flourish under the sun that they know they cannot attain. They spread life by pollinating from flower to flower and they ride on the breeze of the wind to fulfill their purpose. We can not reach God or his righteousness through our own accord, but by accepting His Righteousness as given to us not earned. The sun imparts its light and life to the Butterfly and the butterfly only needs to abide in it. We must abide in the glory of God and by being in His Glory we will fulfill His purpose for us. Like the butterfly riding the breeze we must wait for and allow the Holy Spirit to help carry us to wherever we must take the life that has been placed inside us. Like moths some people look a lot like Christians, but they only light they see is something from man, not God. These have no concept of the light of day, vs the light of darkness and they seek what they perceive as good or right fervently, resulting in their slow and self inflicted destruction.
