As you might have seen elsewhere on the interwebs, yesterday - TopicsExpress

As you might have seen elsewhere on the interwebs, yesterday marked the 25th anniversary of the cinematic release of the Tim Burton - Official Page Batman movie in 1989. In the USA, anyway; here in Blighty we had to wait until August 11th (small piece of trivia for you, the BBFC introduced the 12 rating just for this film). As anyone who was around in the late 80s can contest, Batman was everywhere as a result of this film and the merchandising took on a life of its own. I have frustrating memories of an 8 year old me struggling to get through the video game on the Megadrive. There was even a sequel two years later, Revenge Of The Joker, to capitalise on its success prior to the release Batman Returns. Whilst this game did see a release on the Megadrive, a SNES version was also planned but never saw the light of day. Theres ROM versions out there if you want to check it out and heres some gameplay footage courtesy of Metal Arcade: https://youtube/watch?v=Pbho9CYMoZQ Theres been a fair few unreleased Batman games over the years. Probably the most amusing of which is another unreleased SNES game that was never finished and referred to internally by the developer as Really Shitty Batman. Heres some gameplay footage, again courtesy of Metal Arcade: https://youtube/watch?v=7vZVr7I16wY Perhaps most intriguing, a game based on the premise of Gotham by Gaslight which saw an alternate timeline with Batman pursuing Jack the Ripper in Victorain era Gotham. Developed by Day 1 Studios, the guys behind F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R. 3, this was eventually cancelled when the publisher, THQ, were unable to get the rights to the Batman license. Of course, we got the awesome Batman: Arkham Asylum instead so its not all bad. In fact, Batman: Arkham Origins even included the Gaslight Batsuit as DLC. Still, heres some gameplay footage of the prototype to give you an idea of what could have been. Some excellent lighting and cape physics on show! https://youtube/watch?v=65IsSRMi4i0
