Ashley Hollings hey guys just thought id share this with u all- hopefully this page can continue to help normalise breastfeeding in public- i was at the waitakere work and income this morning- tieing up a few loose ends (paperwork etc) now that my partner has found a job- i was waiting on the seats for my partner who was talking to one of the case managers- and i was feeding my 7 month old baby girl- over the top as i always do- and i was sitting in amongst a group of people waiting at a table- one of the case managers(female) kept looking at me out the corner of her eye- and i thought nothing of it- (fed my other daughter over the top for 2 and a half years and in public!(shock horror?!) the woman came over to me and grabbed the blanket i had with me incase baby got cold- and threw it over babys head and goes to me "can u use the blanket" - horrified i pulled it off her head and asked her "for what reason?" she then grabbed the blanket again and put it over my daughters head AGAIN! and said to me "because there is males in here!" needless to say i pulled if off again and my response was "and thats a problem why?" she then walked off but continued to glare at me whilst i fed my daughter proudly! i marched straight over to a manager and laid a complaint as this to me is pathetic- keep up the good work mamas and feed out and proud! i dont let anything like this stop me from feeding in public- just makes me want to do it more! xo
