Asia Pacific’s First TEDx ED Event cf.ly/1MNw Speakers and Topics Mrs. Sophie Leung Lau Yau Fun, GBS, JP – Founder and Chairman of The Young Entrepreneurs Development Council (YDC). Mrs. Leung will be speaking from inspiration from Einstein, that “a true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination”. Dr. Jadis Blurton – Founder and Principal at The Harbour School. Dr. Blurton will be speaking about the paradigm shift in schools, and what the future may hold for education institutes that must evolve beyond being “knowledge factories”. Peter Kenny - Founder of Branksome Hall Asia, a renowned international private school. Mr. Kenny, a successful entrepreneur and school founder will be speaking about entrepreneurship and the importance of failure in learning. Rob Lilwall - Adventurer who has walked from Mongolia to Hong Kong. Melissa Lee – Public Art Curator in Hong Kong working with Ai Wei Wei. Ms. Lee will be speaking from her work with Ai Wei Wei as a founder of the Fairytale Project, and how inexperience and an open mind is key to effective learning. Julian Zhu – Head of Experience Management and Chief Trainer at Dialogue in the Dark, an organization focusing on helping people experience blindness. Mr. Zhu himself is blind and will speak about the importance of experiential learning, and also the challenges facing physically handicapped students. Douglas Kidd – Special Education Needs Expert and Coordinator. Mr. Douglas will be speaking about the importance of valuing a student as a person before one can begin teaching them. Chris Brien – Drummer Extraordinaire, Clinician, Writer. Mr. Brien will be speaking about his experiences in working with ADHD students, their improvements in classroom performance, and their love for learning and distate for video games. Dr. Yvonne Chiu – Associate Professor of Politics and Public Administration at HKU. Ms. Chiu will be speaking about censorship and policy in education, and its effects. Merijn Everaarts – Entrepreneur and Founder of Dopper. Mr. Everaarts will be speaking about entrepreneurship and also the importance of uniqueness in learning
