Ask Tony Question of the Day for Tony Maleedy, Trichologist and Strong & Silky creator: How will Strong & Silky effect hair that has a keratin treatment on it? What about Sulfur? What are the advantages of Strong & Silky vs Keratin? Tony says: The good news is that we have carried out tests on hair that has been straightened with keratin treatments and the Strong and Silky products have no negative effects on it whatsoever. Indeed they help to strengthen it considerably because keratin treatments can, in the longer term, weaken the hair so using the hair strenthening protein complex in Strong &Silky helps greatly. Let me address the issue of "dreaded sulfur". No way should "sulfur" be dreaded. Di-sulfide (sulfur) bonds are singularly the most important in the whole hair because it is these chemical bonds that fundamentally hold the hair together. There is a lot of talk about "sulfate free" hair products - I have been making them for over 20 years and I can tell you categorically that a sulfate free shampoo is not as good as one using sulfate based materials. That is why over 97% of all shampoos use them! Manufacturers of sulfate free materials have done a good job of scaremongering on the internet and it has led to a lot of nonsense being written.
