Asked two questions to Senator Peggy Lehner, chairwoman of the Senate Education Committee, at the @OHSCHOOLBOARDS Capital Conference 1) on the OLSC finding that charter schools have 150 ORC laws less to comply with (compared with true public schools), and 2) to provide an update on the reforms needed of the zero tolerance law. Sen. Lehner said they are looking hard on how to improve the zero tolerance law to reduce unfair suspensions and expulsions, especially among very young children. She also agreed that financial controls over the public funds allocated to the charter schools must and will improve.
