Asking several scholars the same question Question: What do you - TopicsExpress

Asking several scholars the same question Question: What do you say if someone poses a question to a Shaykh to thereafter go to another Shaykh and pose the same question? Shaykh al-Fawzan: This is a joker who tastes various opinions. Perhaps he has a bad intention [with it] to confront the opinions of the scholars against each other and says that this one says this and the other says that. It is not allowed under any circumstances at all. If you want to ask, first and foremost you don’t just ask anybody, you should ask the one who’s religion, knowledge and answer you trust. You should ask him and take his opinion. You should then not go to another or a third person. You should keep yourself to the person who answered you [while belonging to] the scholars who have a right to give Fatawa [Allah says, in meaning]: So ask the people of the message if you do not know. (16:43) People of the message are those who possesses knowledge and Taqwa (I.e. the scholars). Shaykh Saalih al Fawzaan (hafithahuallah)
