Assalaamu alaikum president Waheed, A hearty congratulations to the ladies arm of the SFJM, the YWMA, on its recent general elections. Welcome to the new president Hajjin Fareeda Mohammed Rahamut, Vice President Hajjin Amina Hasnain Mohammed and their executive team! May Allah bless us and rightly guide us in all that we do Insha Allah! Continuing on from last week, and just to put the fasts of Ashura in even more context, Hafsa (RA) ummul mumineen reported four (4) things that The Beloved ﷺ never gave up, i.e. 4 non compulsory (non fard) things that He ﷺ always did. They were; 1. The day of Ashura 2. The 1st 10 days of Dhul Hijjah 3. The 13, 14, and 15 of every month 4. The 2 rakaahs before the Fard of Fajr, i.e. the 2 Sunnah rakaahs We all want to be close to The Beloved ﷺ. These are the voluntary sacrifices we have to make in small steps at a time. I wonder what your holiday plans are this year? To spend some quality time with the family, watch some tv, clean the house, or even catch up on some much needed rest. Well I am certainly looking forward to December holidays as its the time of the year when my family members are all at home for a week or two, and we can regroup. This free time is indeed important and essential for rejuvenation of the body, heart and soul as we prepare to face the tempting and tempestuous world again come January. And so I am extremely pleased and excited to learn that the SFJM will once more be commemorating the Milad un Nabi ﷺ for twelve (12 ) nights, beginning Tuesday 23rd December 2014, all the way to Saturday 3rd January 2015 Insha Allah. I think we have a winner; the opportunity for lawful fun and frolic during the day and the opportunity for spiritual cleansing at night, commencing with Maghrib salaah. Look out for details and reminders!!! Until next week Insha Allah, president Waheed, you are always up front and personal when it comes to singing the praises of Allah and His Beloved ﷺ . So why not try your hands at some poetry this year :) Was-salaam, Hannah.
