Assalamu aleykum, First of all, thank you for your prompt and positive response to the idea of a way over due get together. As you all know, theres been talks about a conference call to discuss the plan and our brother and friend (and personal jaam :) ) Henry Pullo (Thierno Peul) had put together a mailing list to get everyone informed but it looks like not everyone got an email from him. This was mainly aimed for those without a fcb acct. Yet, we are all supposed to send him our email addresses please. Here is a copy of the email but, please send him your address, if you did not already and lets make sure we pass the word. WORD OF MOUTH IS THE BEST WAY TO GO! Hello everyone, We hope to have included everyones email address in this list. This message is in an effort to reach all the English Department alumni for whom we have a mode of contact. We may not have everyones email address, however. Thus, we rely on those who receive this message to do their utmost to inform anyone they can. In the recent past, some among our comrades tried to garner interest from the English Department alumni to foster a bond that may lead to fruitful efforts from which we can all benefit. Such comrades included Lamine Kane, Bachir Kane, Alioune Fall, Mor Kane, Yero Sow, Laye Diop, Madiama Mbaye, Amadou Seck, Malick Ndiaye, Marame Gueye, Bolo Diallo, El hadji Bamba Diop, et al. A forum was created where a lot of memorable moments were shared, and great ideas were born. I am not sure if such a forum can be reactivated (cue to Lamzo). A facebook page has also been created also to provide a corner where people can connect with one another. These initiatives are commendable. Therefore, we look to take the efforts a bit further. In a bid to do so, Marame Gueye and Amadou Seck suggested a get together more than two years ago. It was difficult to pin down a perfect place for everyone; it still is. However, this year, it has been suggested by Rama Diabong to hold our first gathering in Indianapolis, INDIANA. There is a good number of alumni in this city. We understand that any place we pick will not suit everyone. But we have to start somewhere. Although the place has been suggested, we still need to iron out the details of a gathering of such magnitude. Such a task will require that everyone chip in with what they believe may help. All ideas are welcome. ideas can pertain to how we can best organize this and future gatherings as well as the goal or goals to be sought through them. To start this effort, we have set up a conference call for Saturday February 8, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Times. We realize that this time may not be convenient for our friends in other time zones. Having that in mind, we have set up a Playback Information number. Please see below for details on how you can participate in this conference call. To take part in the conference call at the time and date indicated above, the Dial-in Number is 1 (559) 726-1300, and the Participant Access Code is 649583 For those who cant make it at that time, you have the option to listen to the call afterward. To do so, please dial the Playback Number (559) 726-1399 and Access Code 649583. To have an idea of how many participants to expect in this first conference call, please respond to this email. A simple I am in phrase will suffice to let us know who is and who is not participating in this call. Lets make this a dream come true. Henry Hane Indianapolis, INDIANA. YOU CAN ALSO INBOX ME WITH THE MESSAGE AM IN IF YOU WISH. THANK YOU :)
