Budget Gyms! The perfect place for the lazy trainer. If you like to train in a gym with all the atmosphere of a department store then budget gyms are for you. Let me explain my statement: Big chain budget gyms are funded by investment company’s who are only interested in financial returns, so they find a suitable big space for rent, fit it out with flooring, lighting, TV’s etc…. essentially the same as you would with a new furniture showroom or department store. The next stage is to do a deal with fitness equipment manufacturers who obviously get squeezed on the price for fitting the gym out with their equipment. Now its time to find some trainers to work in the place for free to save even more money, so they round up some desperate personal trainers who are short of work and tell them if you man the gym for “no money” we will let you approach the membership and offer your services at what ever price you choose, creating a perfect environment for the membership to be hounded constantly by unpaid staff who need to generate their own wages. Remember you joined a budget gym to save money and now the only way you will get even basic continued help is to pay through the nose for a personal trainer Now what’s the bit about the lazy trainer you may ask? If you don’t like to interact with people around you, and you like all the ambience of a department store and are happy to potter about doing the same workout year in year out so that you can look the same as you did when you started, then this type of gym is your ticket to the perpetual mundaneness you’ve been looking for. Ask yourself the question: what do I want from a gym? If the answer is to get in shape while gaining knowledge about training in an atmosphere conducive to training, then I recommend joining a local independent gym, these types of gyms are full of people at the top of their game, it may cost a little more than the budget gyms but you’ll benefit enormously by being around people who have tonnes of knowledge, energy and experience and are more than willing to help out others around them.The choice is yours Cheers Bobby
