The lecturer will deliver the following modules: 1st Semester (ECIT): • Introduction to Electronic Commerce • Fundamentals of Multimedia Techniques • Software Engineering 2nd Semester (ECIT): • Visual Modeling and Universal Modelling Language (UML) • Software Project Management and Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Qualification/Experience Essential: 1. A first or second class honours degree (level 8) in Computer Science or Software Engineering or Software Development or an approved equivalent qualification. 2. Not less than three years industrial or research or other professional experience in the software industry subsequent to obtaining the above qualification. Desirable: 1. Hold a relevant Masters / PhD Degree. 2. Applicants to have gained an extensive knowledge of E-Commerce, multi-media and software development through working on a number of large projects and to have gained real insight into the software and ICT industry. Qualifications and conditions of appointment are in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Education and Skills. Duties The appointee will play an active role in the academic direction of courses including teaching, academic assessment and academic administration at AIT Partner University. The appointee should carry out such duties as are assigned to him/her in accordance with collective agreements arrived at from time to time and authorised by the Minister for Education and Skills including but not limited to:- • Teaching such assigned classes as deemed appropriate by the management of the Institute with the agreement of the AIT Partner University. In addition, it will be necessary to spend whatever time is required in preparation and correction in order that teaching may be carried out effectively. (These arrangements are subject to collective agreements arrived at from time to time and authorised by the Minister for Education and Skills) • Carrying out assessment, monitoring and evaluation of examinations work, and providing an academic and consultative support to students in their learning activities. • Participating in committees appropriate to courses and meetings convened by management at AIT and AIT Partner University. • Maintaining appropriate records and making available information as required by management. • Participating in the development, implementation and maintenance of academic quality assurance arrangements. • Participating in appropriate activities necessary to the development of their department /school and of the Institute. • The appointee to be available to carry out additional part-time lecturing hours during the summer period, if required. The performance of these duties will require attendance in addition to class contact hours during the normal working week at AIT Partner University and according to the academic calendar at the AIT Partner University. The appointee shall carry out the lawful instructions of the President (or authorised Officer) and comply with the requirements and regulations of the Minister for Education and Skills.
