Assault arrest on Laurel River Church Road: Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Josh Scott arrested Rebecca Watkins age 31 of Laurel River Church Rd., London, early Wednesday morning, May 14, 2014 at approximately 3:15 AM. The arrest occurred on Laurel River Church Road, approximately 10 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched to an alleged accidental shooting complaint. Following an investigation, Detective Scott learned that an apparent domestic argument led to the victim being shot by his ex-wife. The victim was apparently shot once in the shoulder. A black powder revolver was recovered at the scene. The victim was transported by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to St. Joseph hospital of London for treatment. Rebecca Watkins was charged with assault first degree – domestic violence and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility. Assisting on the investigation was Deputy Mikey Ashurst, Deputy Shawn Boroviak, Deputy Tyler Morris, and Deputy Daniel Grigsby. Also assisting was Campground Fire Department.
