Asset protection burn for the Rossarden area The Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) advises Fingal Valley residents that a fuel reduction burn is planned at Castle Cary Regional Reserve near Rossarden tomorrow, Friday 5 October, subject to weather conditions. The burn is a cooperative effort between the Parks and Wildlife Service, Tasmania Fire Service and Forestry Tasmania. The objective of the approximately 1000 hectare burn is asset and property protection. During the burn, Rossarden Road and Storeys Creek speed limits will be reduced to 40km/h. All road signage must be obeyed. The Castle Cary Regional Reserve will be closed to visitors. Affected tracks may need to be closed for a number of days until such time as PWS can inspect and treat any hazardous trees created as a result of the burn. Visitors are requested to respect signage and follow directions until such time as it is removed. There will be smoke and fire vehicles on tracks and nearby roads. People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from this burn.
