Values & Education Conference - Edinburgh, 20 Nov – 21 Nov What does an education system based on “values” and “character” look like? How do we enable good values-based learning? What resources can help us do this? These questions and others will be addressed over two days of workshops and talks, inviting anyone who is interested in, or already applying, a values-based approach to education. Day 1 is a broad cross-sectoral networking event to share practice in values and character education from across the education spectrum, including primary, secondary and tertiary education; outdoor education and youth work. We will invite people to share what has worked, and what hasnt, and identify where we can all share resources and offer support. Day 2 is a policy focused event to develop a consensus position on values in school education, what a values approach brings to education and what resources/sources of support already exist in this area (both North and South of the border). This event is hosted by the Public Interest Research Centre (PIRC), Character Scotland, Learning for Sustainability Scotland and Lifeworlds Learning. You can apply to either day, or the full conference, and there is a small fee to help us cover the costs of food and hosting.
