Assmang Limited’s Beeshoek Iron Ore Mine, situated approximately 7 kilometres west of Postmasburg in the Northern Cape (+/-200km west from Kimberley), requires the services of: 3X DIESEL MECHANIC QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 with N2 or N3; Trade Certificate as Diesel Mechanic; Minimum of two (2) year experience working on earthmoving equipment, i.e. CAT’s; Minimum of two (2) year experience as diesel mechanic; A valid code B/EB driving license. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and discipline specific software; Knowledge of risk assessment as per work process, lock out procedure, lifting equipment, metallurgical, mining and engineering processes; Must have tool handling, basic rigging, fault finding, problem solving, supervisory, communication, organising and planning skills. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INCLUDE, INTER ALIA: Adhere to all applicable safety, health and environmental practices and procedures; Support and assist with change initiatives; Generate own ideas and implement approved mini projects; Develop and coach team members, and develop yourself through continuous professional development; Develop and maintain productive relations with internal and external customers; Supervise team performance; Ensure that good housekeeping is done at all times; Schedule and organise work load, spares, tools and resources; Execute work against issued work order in a timely and accurate manner; Conduct regular inspections, whether scheduled or ad hoc and record feedback; Conduct planning for job shown on work order; Conduct risk assessment in own area of work; Perform asset care activities as required; Operate and maintain specified mobile equipment; Maintain all workshop tools and equipment; Ensure that breakdowns are attended to immediately to restore availability; Ensure effective maintenance administration; Maintain vehicles according to planned service schedule; Test drive vehicle to do fault finding on production vehicles; Ad hoc, any other reasonable duties as and when requested from time to time. Appointment: Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package. Probation Period: 3 months The successful incumbent will be appointed subject to being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996 and meeting the requirements of the Company’s Code of Practice – Minimum Standards of Fitness to perform work at a Mine. He/she may also undergo a psychometric assessment. The abovementioned position is C2 on the Patterson grading system. The successful candidate that conforms to all said requirements and experience will be appointed on this grading. Should the successful candidate not conform with all said requirements and experience, but is nonetheless regarded as suitable for appointment to the position, he/she will be appointed on a lower more appropriate grading, until successful achievement of required competencies and skills.
