If you are interested please read below. 2013 Asti Winery Harvest Lab Tech SUMMARY: Performs sampling and chemical analysis under the direction of the Lab Manager. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Accurate and timely execution of all wine analysis, utilizing spectrophotometer, ph meter, distillation, turbidity meter, titration, ion specific electrode, and enzymatic analysis methods. • Berry maturation processing and testing for Brix, TA and pH. • Routine sample collection from tanks and barrels, and proper sample preparation for analysis. • Monitoring both red/white tank and barrel fermentations during harvest. • Maintain general housekeeping of the winemaking lab Additional Duties depending upon experience may include: • Preparation and standardization of necessary chemical solutions and reagents • Determine and execute appropriate lab analysis based on cellar processing of bulk wine • Maintain lab analysis history on the physical records and in computer system QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: • College science degree preferred • Chemistry/winery background and relevant experience preferred • Strong math skills required • Attention to detail • Ability to prioritize tasks and perform duties with minimum supervision. • Ability to work well with people, and to think analytically and subjectively • Computer proficiency desirable • Ability to contribute to a positive work atmosphere by communicating with customers, co-workers and management according to established standards. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Long hours required during harvest including weekends • Required to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally • Mobility throughout winery required • Extended periods of time sitting at a computer using hands and fingers to enter data. • Frequent bending, carrying, standing, and grasping. • Exposures to eye, leg, back, wrist and elbow strain. • Exposure to some chemicals, airborne particles, caustics, fumes, odors and temperatures. • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
