At 0440 hrs Hambden and auto aid departments Montville Fire Rescue The Chardon Fire Department and Munson Fire Department were dispatched for a residential structure fire with 1 occupant possibly trapped inside. Crews arrived to find heavy fire coming from the roof but all occupants had escaped safely. MABAS Box 3611 was activated bringing assistance from Middlefield Fire Department Concord Twp Fire Department Leroy Twp. Fire Department Thompson Fire Department Burton Volunteer Fire Department and Kirtland Fire Department. An air truck was also requested from Perry Joint Fire District. Crews found heavy fire in the attic and extinguished the fire and conducted extensive overhaul. 2 Firefighters were transported to the hospital for minor injuries. Thanks to all departments that assisted and to Geauga County Sheriff dispatchers. We wish a speedy recovery to the firefighters injured.
