At 266 feet, Mt. Mitchill in Atlantic Highlands, NJ is the highest headband on the east coast of the United States located south of Maine. Since moving from Massachusetts to Atlantic Highlands in January of this year, I routinely bring guests to Mt. Mitchill for its wonderful views of Sandy Hook, Sandy Hook and Raritan Bays, and the New York City skyline. More important and moving is the wonderful 9/11 memorial sited there, with a majestic sculpture of an bald eagle flying away from the WTC carrying a mangled I-beam from Ground Zero in its claws.
