At 45 most of us are going a little bit to fat. Hugh Pritchard is instead taking another route, having been a youth international kayaker, then an Olympian biathlete representing Great Britain in his 30s, Hugh will return to the international competition this weekend representing the USA in the Wildwater Kayaking World Championships in Slovenia. Hugh is not a professional athlete with a vast entourage and global sponsors, but works in a normal job like the rest of us, living in Vermont with his wife and two little girls. Scholar athlete, Cambridge half-blue and wearer of cords and tattersall check shirts, Hugh is one of the few remaining gentleman amateurs and deserves all the support that I hope his Boy’s Own story will generate.
