At 8:15 I preached in the pulpit from the script. At 11 I preached the bulk of the story around the message from out of the pulpit without the manuscript. What has resulted is a fascinating study in how differently the meditation was heard at each service. Every sermon/mediation has a focus and a function (Princeton alum = Tom Long trained), but every sermon/meditation also has the hearing factor and the Holy Spirit is in charge of that. I am thankful for the privilege it is to be Called into the ministry with Mechanicsburg Presbyterian and in particular Called to the vocation of preacher. I am admittedly also thankful that we are done (for now) with the prophets. Their words were never meant for lullabys, thats for sure.
