At Community Day this year I was asked about the time capsule that was buried in the Park. Fran Wallin, the Town historian, gave me the following information which may be of interest to those not present when the time capsule was buried in 1983. The following organizations donated items that were placed in a time capsule on Saturday, June 11, 1983 at Union Vale’s Community Day, and buried at Tymor Park. Items from the Brownies and Girl Scouts of America, the Clove Valley Alliance Church, Clove Valley Bible Fellowship Church, Union Vale Grange # 887, Union Vale Historical Society, the Horseman Association, UV Ladies Auxiliary, Oswego Friends Meeting, UV Rescue Squad, UV Republican Club, UV Taxpayers Association, Tymor Senior Citizens Group, Verbank Methodist Church, Fusileers Fifr and Drum Corps, Waterman Bird Club, Southern Dutchess 4-H Club, UV Park Commission, UV Community Day Committee, UV Town Clerk Jean Pine, UV Supervisor Peter DeForest, and UV Town Historian Irena Storalik. Lydia Brown and James Rickes, lifetime residents of Union Vale, and Thomas Welsh assisted Supervisor DeForest, Councilman Ray Pine and Town Historian Irena Storalik in sealing the time capsule and burying it in a metal cylinder with a concrete slab on top. Capsule is to be opened March 6, 2027 which is the date of the Town of Union Vale Bicentennial. Lisette Hitsman, Town Supervisor
