At The Time a book by Rhonda L. Jackson India Jade Drayden has always depended completely on her intellect. How could she not depend on one the thing that makes her special and sets her apart? India is a genius. By age nine she is a nuclear physicist. Her decision to build a time machine to physically view the past is a decision India does not take lightly. Such an instrument in the wrong hands can be weaponized with devastating results. ‘To whom much is given much is expected’ is the mantra that drives her. She wonders what her parents and grandparents are like as young people and children. This time machine is the best way to see them in the prime of their lives. Because of her intellectual prowess India is always separated from people of average or below average intellect. Her interest in why one person has superior intellect while another has average or below average intellect compels her study of genetics. It is this compulsion that ultimately drives India to invent a time machine. In this machine, she travels back in time at fifty year intervals until she reaches the eighteen hundreds and slavery.
