At about 2.15am this morning, police were called to a shopping complex on the Philip Highway in Elizabeth South following multiple alarm activations. On arrival, police discovered a rear roller door of the complex had been rammed by a vehicle and access gained to Smokemart. A significant amount of cigarette cartons had been stolen from inside the store and the offenders fled prior to police arrival. On viewing CCTV, police discovered at least two men were involved and a blue utility was used to ram the roller door to gain access. The utility is believed to have been stolen from a Paralowie address on Friday 6 June. A few hours later, police were alerted to a car fire on Whitford Road, Elizabeth South - just a few blocks from the break-in. It appears the burnt-out vehicle is of similar description to the utility used in the break-in but investigations continue on this front. Police urge anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity around the shopping complex or Whitford Road early this morning, or has any information that may assist police with the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers.
