At different times on Sunday night, two people who were both in my lives, breathed their last. My Grandfather died aged 89 after spending 6 years battling prostate cancer. My friend and landlady died aged 54, after a very brief fight against a brain tumour that was discovered in April. The Irish Times has a lovely obituary about her here. Ive found this lovely poem online by Mary Elizabeth Frye. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the mornings hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die.
