At least two of my friends have family in ICU tonight. There seems to have been so much loss and suffering this holiday season. Losing someone at any time is tragic. Yet sometimes it feels as if the holidays intensify it. The whole world seems to be celebrating while your world has been reduced to a small dark room and the sound of machines beeping. I am keeping my friends in mind as the new year approaches. This night will be long for them.
