At the age of 15, Mo Bourner was a young man passionate about life, and a very talented BMX rider and athlete, as well. He is mixed race – part Somalian, part British-Caucasian. Unfortunately, he was brutally set upon after a beach party on the south coast by a drunk former British-soldier in a racist and unprovoked attack, leaving Mo with 90% brain damage and in a coma for 8 weeks. At first, he was not expected to live. He was certainly not expected to eat, talk or walk again. However, with the power of his love of life, music and positivity, and the help of loads of loving people, he is now talking and walking again. In fact, the accident has unleashed in Mo (now 18) prolific and profound poetry, rap and song lyrics. There is currently a feature documentary film being made about his recovery called “Mo’s Rap Against Racism”. He is working to combat racism and senseless violence as an activist by creating a charity called Rap Against Racism, which hopes to use music and the arts to guide young people today away from the wrong path. He is planning to create a high profile annual concert to help spread his message and get his charity off the ground, with the help of his wonderful family, friends and supporters, as well participation by known urban music artists, poets and comedians. THTC will be working with Mo Bourner on this concert and other events. He is making remarkable progress, showing the positive healing power of love, music and positivity. His motto is ‘Power through adversity’. Check this song out that he performed from bed in Kings College Hospital after a titanium plate was fitted to his skull - https://youtube/watch?v=wurrKFaVX4k He is pictured here with Olympic winner Mo Farah who is one of the awesome celebs to become involved. Mo Bourner is also wearing one of THTCs t-shirts in the photos. We will be blogging about Mos film and music events in due course...
