At the beginning of a new week, there are some verses of Scripture - TopicsExpress

At the beginning of a new week, there are some verses of Scripture in Psalm 119 that may well prove to be life-preservers for many of us in the days ahead. Beginning in verse 25, we find David in pretty bad shape. He says, “I am laid low in the dust. Preserve my life according to Your Word” and in verse 28, he goes on to say, “My soul is weary with sorrow. Strengthen me according to Your Word.” Check out his shift in verses 49 and 50. It seems that David is saying, “When my heart is hurting, when my spirit is doubting, when my feelings are crashing, I hold onto Your Word, Lord.” For many of us when we take one of life’s big hits, we start to hear a lot of wrong messages – “God doesnt care!” …”Ive got no reason to go on!”… “I might as well stop trying.” … “I have a right to be bitter!” … “God cant use me anymore!” Davids advice in these circumstances is to dive into God’s Word. Child of God, dont trust your feelings. Dont trust those messages. Youll only be able to escape the lies if you immerse yourself in the God’s truth. Ask God to envelope you with His Word, to hold you with His Word, to support you with His Word, to give you hope with His Word. Memorise it and quote it when those dark feelings come. His promises will preserve your life and His Word will expose the lies that your confused emotions are telling you. C’MON!
