At the end of Day 8, Saturday July 19, the Lake Walkers had covered another 47 kms for the day and had stopped at Footprint Lake just north of Grand Rapids, Manitoba, for the night. We were fed a full meal at the Pelican Landing Restaurant courtesy of the Misipawistik Cree Nation (Formerly Grand Rapids First Nation) (Thank you Heidi Cook for arranging that) with about 24 walkers in attendance. We had walkers from Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Norway House Cree Nation, Cross Lake and Grand Rapids. In addition we had a truck driver James Lindsay stop and join the walk for five kilometres in support of the walkers and make a donation. Thank you James. Base Camp is still at the Pinesiw Energy Shell Station just south of the Easterville Junction on Hwy 6. We will be moving the base camp Monday July 21 to the rest stop at Devils Lake about 40 kms further south.
