At the end of the day, I’m not doing this to prove myself to - TopicsExpress

At the end of the day, I’m not doing this to prove myself to anyone. I don’t compete in this “sport” for any glory, for any recognition, for anything other than my own self-pride and respect. I compete because that’s what I do and that’s who I’ve always been, a competitor. When I say I don’t care about what others are doing out there, it’s the damn honest truth. Too many individuals in this so-called “sport” think way too highly of themselves and, I believe, do it for all the wrong reasons. They might do it for some so-called “glory,” or maybe they do it for recognition from their peers (which will only come from those that compete in this hobby, because no one else in this world gives a shit), but for whatever reason there isn’t a lot of those that just do it for themselves. They are always looking for acceptance, some level of respect, or some level of recognition. If you are looking for that, good luck. Respect isn’t given, especially to those that think they deserve it. Respect is earned from being humble, doing you, and not caring about what others think. Down the road when you realize you wasted a huge part of life worrying about things that truly don’t matter, like what people think of you, maybe you’ll understand and will be able to attain respect for yourself. – Jeremy Frey
