At the end of the sale I learned to start taking pics of faces and markings so when the horses show up at other sales or with kill buyers we can Id them faster... Its the hardest part of the day after you have already run around non-stop without eating or drinking just to get one more picture, one more post, help more horse... As I was making my rounds I stumbled on Greysen Fors in Blue Octobers stall. I had spent a good part of the day with her and she was a delight! She is a young, talented, sweet lady who rode a horse through the sale for an Agent. I was trying to get my pics before they loaded and then I realized she was giving Blue hay and bawling as she was petting him. I asked if she was ok and then I knew...she knew where he was going. Thats a hard thing to realize at her age. I was in my 30s before I had to have that moment. I tried to console her as she had big tears and that cant hold back cry going on. I started tearing up to but tried to stay strong. Just then my guy came around the corner. He whispered to me to see what was going on... I jokingly said you made her cry.. He came up with some crazy outrageous price and I told her just go talk to her mom. I didnt want her to feel even more upset. Ivorie came back and pulled him aside and some minutes passed...next thing I know Ivorie came back with the brown envelope!!!!!!! I still dont know what happened and dont need to but they worked it out. I had heard very mixed things about Blue all day but I know he is in capable hands and not headed North. More than that this is a little girl who in some ways had a hard education and became more of a woman yesterday...but I hope in some way a small part of the next generation of horsewomen will be changed because of her too...What will your legacy be? #timeforchange #teamamericansaddlebreds (pics posted with permission of the Fors in hopes to inspire and encourage others to help)
