At the end of this month congress will impose some sort of budget plan. Im not educated on the process but one thing I read scared the daylights out of me. Republicans in Congress to cut food stamps by almost $40 billion. The House of Representatives on Thursday approved sweeping reforms to the nations food stamp program that would cut some $40 billion in nutrition aid over 10 years and deny benefits to millions starting in 2014. By 217 to 210, the House said yes to the measure, with its Republican backers arguing it would help more people find jobs. This is a sadistic act of moral indecency against hungry children, the elderly and disabled Americans who need this program. I grew up on this system and what it did was gave us the ability to survive. I agree that there are some people who take advantage of this system by abusing it just like some of these big banks take advantage of the system. JP Morgan fined 13 billion. That s what they settled on. The normal rule in terms of remedies for frauds of this scope, you pay for your damages that you caused. And if those damages were caused by fraud as opposed to mere negligence, the US legal system often makes the fraudster pay punitive damages of at least twice that amount. A normal recovery would be in the range of $200 billion, But no way will they cut out the banking system. Just on my Gradu8 grind today.
