At the grocery store we read sodium content (and the horror story of other contents) on cans and jars. Its no longer shocking; its actually humorous. One can of food intended for humans contains partially defatted fatty tissue. What is this--sophomore biology lab? The food that we have stopped buying eliminates about half of all the stuff on the shelves. Then we eliminate farm raised fish and shrimp. Farmed is bad for fish, but good for fruit and veggies. Odd. Most poultry contains a solution---the description of the solution trails off, but I hope it doesnt contain any defatted fatty tissue. We had already stopped buying Chinese dog treats, but now there are jars of Chinese produced vegetables. If I cook Chinese vegetables in my Chinese made cookware while wearing my Chinese made shoes, will there be an existential conflict with my Sri Lankan shirt and underwear? Many friends are worried about GMO more than they worry about GM. Im certain GM will kill you quicker. Lucky for me, I grew up without seatbelts and helmets, before meat, petroleum, and independent thought were considered to be bad. Those of us who did are genetically different from the mainstream. Thus, WE are GMOs and will do just fine. Dinner: An omelet with something that looks like cheddar cheese, some red stuff from a jar labelled sun dried tomatoes, and a bit of sweated onion. It was a miracle that I survived eating it--thank goodness I had some American vodka in the freezer.
